Come and discover the Memorial of Dormans, an emblematic monument in the Marne Valley, listed as a World Heritage Site. Set in 25 hectares of wooded park, this imposing monument dedicated to the soldiers who fought for France in the 2 Battles of the Marne will reveal all its secrets to you!
Enjoy a journey through the history of the Great War and admire the architectural and historical heritage of this most visited memorial site in the Marne. Start your discovery in the crypt that suggests mourning and contemplation, with the names of the soldiers who died for France engraved in bloody letters in the stone. Then enter the ossuary, which contains 130 coffins containing the remains of 1,500 soldiers, of whom only 11 have been identified. Finally, complete your visit with the upper chapel, which glorifies victory through the luminosity of its monumental stained-glass windows.
At the end of the tour, you can also visit 2 exhibition rooms, as well as climbing the stairs to the tower (105 steps) to admire a magnificent panoramic view of the Marne Valley and its vineyards, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site too.
The visit can be complemented by a wine tourism experience on site or at the estate!
A améliorer...
